Weekly Blog #2 (To Bake or Not to Bake?)

Stress is something that always seems like a little issue to worry about. Sadly, stress is a big deal and for most, including me. Thankfully, stress could be control and or at least maintain in a certain manner. For me, I walk my dog, read a good book, write in journals, and here and there I’ll have a good smoke sesh.

Of course, sometimes stress is something that needs a void to fill. One thing I am trying to learn this month of January is how to make bread. I like the idea since it’s challenging. For me, I love a good challenge as it doesn’t cause stress, but rattles my brain. Meaning, after all day of making and baking bread, it was worth the long wait and even tasted great… after the third try or so.

(Didn’t let the bread rise enough, but still pretty tasty with nuts and fruits.)

The brought up bread making, because it’s a skill I feel is not taught much. And after learning… and failing a few times, the bread came out great. I even added nuts, dried fruits, and dark chocolate chips in my bread mixture. Soon sourdough bread would be made, but it’s a long process. (Sourdough starter is a science of itself but really cool)

The point of this blog is to say… try to do something new or experience something that seems boring or too simple. For me, I love bread and figured… yeah, why not try it? Honestly, it was a fun little side project and a good arm workout. Which is what I needed since typing all day does put a toll on my hands. So pounding and rolling dough was a perfect way to relax, and seeing a different perceptive, giving props to actual professional bakers. (For those professional bakers, you are a true artist)

As we approach February, I am still going to learn more about bread making… might even make a short video on it, but overall, I could see how or why this lowers stress levels. Which is why I might learn a new skill this coming February… But that’s for another time.

This was a weird blog to write, but it is pretty nice to share a bit about me and or what has been happening so far this year. But if you are trying to find something new to do this year, find something simple. Like, making bread, pottery, cooking, or reading a book that isn’t your style. Overall, have a great week and weekend.
